A combination of old and new - the modern vintage wedding

Vintage is considered old-fashioned for many people. But it also works in a different way: The modern vintage wedding is a combination of the past and the present. If you like the old-fashioned style, but still want to integrate a modern touch, this wedding motto is perfect for you.

What makes a modern vintage wedding special?

Each wedding is, regardless of the motto, unique and fundamentally different from any other. Depending on your preferences, you can bring in a variety of ideas. Nevertheless, there are characteristic features of a modern vintage wedding:

The Decoration

Mostly it is the decoration which is inspired by the vintage style. Bright pastels- and shades of gray are perfect. When you look at the table and flower decoration, you can often find wooden elements. Mainly white or pink roses are used.

Also, this motto classically refers to "outdated" furniture. Typically, wooden tables and chairs are used. The table decoration usually adapts to the beige and wooden colors of the furniture to create a certain harmony. Candleholders and wooden elements are also distributed in the room. Garlands and pillows in different shades of beige and lace also underline the atmosphere and give the environment a cozy flair.

The Clothes

Depending on how modern or adapted the wedding should be to the classic style, you should also choose matching clothes. For Vintage: lace is a must for the bride! Embellishments give the dress a unique character and also emphasize the beauty of the woman. The groom usually wears a suit with mottled fabrics and fine accessories. Gray, brown, beige and royal blue are the most commonly used colors. Even checked patterns or a vest are suitable.

However, if the outfit should not look like from the 1960s, then you have every freedom in the world to turn the classic vintage wedding into a mix between modern and past days. If you prefer discreet dresses as a bride, it is no problem to wear one. This also applies to the groom: Put on what you feel comfortable in! If you want to wear a modern suit with a tie, do so. In a modern vintage wedding it is important to find an individual mix. A mix in which you feel the most joy.

The Activities

Would you rather drive to the ballroom with a carriage or do a boat trip? Rent a vintage car or get out of a limousine? There are endless possibilities for activities and additional inspirations that can be integrated on your wedding day. Depending on your wishes, these may correspond to more modern or classic ideas. A suitable mix between modern and old are, for example, Polaroid or single-use cameras which have come into the spotlight again the last years. From this you can develop interesting and creative games for the guests:

An example would be to set up several Polaroid cameras on a table and prepare a box from which various tasks must be drawn on a piece of paper. Each table receives a task that must be completed by the end of the evening. Some inspirations would be, for example, "A photo under the table" or "A group photo with a different table". Here you can let your creativity run wild. Just keep in mind that each table has different tasks and times, so that not everybody runs around with a camera. Also it becomes so much more interesting which table receives the next tasks. This quickly brightens the mood and you get ideas for discussions. Above all, it will be a big surprise what images were created after a few hours. Especially for Polaroid cameras you can prepare a wall where all the pictures taken can be signed and exhibited. Also you can create a beautiful guestbook of pictures with the help of Polaroid cameras.

Another photo idea in a vintage design would be a vintage car as a photo box. Any guest who wants to enter the car can shoot photos alone or together with other guests as a reminder.

The Location

Where: Celebrate where you feel most comfortable. Whether in a barn, hotel, or ballroom, a modern vintage-inspired wedding can take place everywhere. Would you rather celebrate in an old fashioned hall? Perfect for that are wooden elements. These also harmonize perfectly with the vintage design and decoration. For a modern touch, a simple ballroom is sufficient.
