The story of BeWooden
My name is Ctirad Sara and I’d like to tell you how the story of BeWooden started. It is year 2010 and I started to work in a brewery the day after I graduated from high-school. It took me some time, but finally, I had enough financial resources to turn my job into my hobby. I opened a photography studio and the two following years felt absolutely great, as I was doing something I loved. Pictures enabled me to present my ideas and thoughts, however my dreams aimed at something tengible. Why have I chosen wooden bowties? I have realised that a bowtie, representing masculinity and gentlemenship, has nearly been forgotten. Love for wood was something I built while being a kid as my father worked at woodwork. Moreover, my great friend Dan is a craftsman, so he fastly became the second member of BeWooden family. To make it even more incredible, we found our dressmaked Hana just a few buildings from where me and Dan lived. What a coinsidence!
It took us four months to design, build and re-build, which was enough time to realize that high quality and handmade production is the way we want to create. Thus, the very first wooden bowtie was made and so was BeWooden. It was followed by few months of preparations, where each step was a big unknown space. I remember when we got the first order. Then an another one. Afterwards, we welcomed a new member Patrick, whose communication skills helped us a lot, especially outside Czech Republic. He was followed by Jakob, who brought business experiences and skills in engineering.
A few weeks before Christmas were really busy. The Christmas 2013 were a present itself – it was the Christmas when we made someone else happy with our products.
New products and the second Christmas
Months after New Year’s Eve were like a coldshower. Wooden wallets we made didn’t meet expected quality. However, we found a solution pretty quick – we started to use a few parts of wood instead of one, so wallets became more durable. Durable to an extent that we started to provide our customers with a lifetime warranty. We believed in what we are doing not only due to the new way of production, but also due to the people who were helping us.
A new year brought a new colleague Paul – a bagmaker. This proved that in order to assure the highest possible quality, we are able to cooperate with people from the whole region.
We established our first stock and office, so we all could meet at one place. Our goal was to widen the product range for gentleman, to create beautiful things and learn more at the same time. We established a cooperation with artists, who are skillful enough to make cufflinks out of a small recess of wood connected to gold.
We made our customers happy and vice versa. That is why we felt growing interest for BeWooden from outsider the country. That was a clear sign that we do things right. We started a cooperation with distributors in Germany and Poland.
As we experienced more and more orders, we hired Jane, who takes care of shipping. Second Christmas were celebrated together and our products made a lot of customers happy.
Over the board
New year started calmly. However, we had great plans ahead and all had to be done just in twelve months. That simply meant constant headspin as we had to do a lot of things at the same time. We started to work with designers, who gave our products a new facelift. We started to work with Henrik, Dasa and Jan, who are representing our brand in Germany, Poland and Denmark respectively. On the top of that, customers can see our products in countries such as Austria, Luxembourg, Slovenia and the Netherlands.
Our team grows. Thanks to you. We do what we love and most of all work on further development, together with you.
